box turtle ready to lay eggs?

if my female box turtle stops eating, is that a sign she might be getting ready to lay eggs? She usually loves to eat but the past few days has turned her nose up at her favorite foods.

Is it your experience that this is a sign? or could it just be that she is not hungry?
