There are a lot of repeats in the Sulcata thread. I really wish people would pay attention and look to see if there are already answers to their questions.

I was asking about the sex of my sulcata in a thread that was started by some one else with the same questions. Instead of getting answers, some one else started another thread to ask about how to sex a sulcata and they got responses in theirs since it was new.

I know the forum needs to be friendly to others and welcoming to new owners and their questions, but it is really frustrating when some one starts yet another thread on some subject that already has a dozen or more dealing with the same subject matter.

Maybe can we put categories or stickies within the sulcata, leopard, etc. categories such as "How to sex your sulcata;" "How much to feed and what to feed your sulcata." And maybe a note that any questions about that subject matter should be asked in that thread???

Just annoyed that people don't look around before starting a new thread.

janie,
thanks for bringing this to our attention. the best way to see if a question has already been answered, is to use the Search Function. stickying important threads is also a great idea and to help encourage this, feel free to use the "Report" function whenever you think there's a thread that is valuable to all who use that specific forum. for instance, a photo guide to IDing the sex of a sulcata would be a great candidate... for other examples, see which threads have already been stickied. the report button is located under each post...just make sure you add a comment so we know why you flagged the thread.
(sticky for those who dont know, means that the thread is labeled "important" and is stuck to the top of the topic list)

Greetings ~

Newbees may not be versed in how to navigate a website, {or have the time to search around trying to find the 'right' place to ask a question..} and honestly, it is not our intention here to help those who know little so that their rep's get the bestest care possible? Yes, sometimes things can get repetitive, but that is the nature of the beast when you have a constant fluxuation in peeps.

On any other site that I have owned or belonged to, it was always the job of Admin to move such topics to the areas that the subject matter referred to...? Perhaps that could be a way to keep threads from appearing where they do not belong...?

Just my thoughts on the matter ~

The mods do that now. When we see a post that needs to be moved we are happy to do that. If anyone sees a post that needs moving please let us know by flagging it as josh has stated. Some days we get few posts and other lots. We can't always be on the forum but we do try and keep up with things but with everybody’s help we can do a much more efficient job.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe when we get a question that has been answered before we can find that thread and copy/paste the URL for it in our answer. That way we will be educating the new person whose question we're answering on how to look through past posts for "stuff."

Janiedough: I feel bad that we didn't answer your sexing question. Has it been answered by now? Here's just one thread about sexing:
