My little baby horsefield is doing well. This is my first baby tortoise only 9 days old didn't start eating until 8 days old I was a bit worried but can relax now the first feed was dandelion leafs. Here are some photos for you to look at.
thought I would share this with you. At last a egg has hatched my first out of three clutches
Incubated for 69 days it is a little horsefield weighing 15g.

I am going to try to post some photos of my eggs the one you can't see anything is over 40 days the other 3 are around 20 days old.the line you can see on the second egg is on the shell.what do you think. Thanks. Derek

Thanks for taking the time for posting the photos for me. By checking my eggs and comparing them to your photos they don't look very promersing at two weeks but I will wait to see what happens. I have a egg from another clutch it is aproxmitley 40 days old i only put a light to it...
Advice please
How old do eggs have to be before you can tell if they are fertile by holding a light to them. Mine are now a couple of weeks old and just look like a cream color. I thought if fertile they might be veiny by now ?. My eggs are horsefield

Thanks. That's only time I separated the males if they were pestering the nesting females. I look forward from hearing advice from other breeders opinions as well. As I am new at this all advice would be most welcome. Thank you

The tortoise is tiny. Can't wait until my first egg hatches. My last 3 were not fertile I am keeping my fingers crossed my one egg is due to hatch in the first week in November
