Yeah, you are correct, I am keeping them in much bigger enclosures. It was just the statement that "tortoises in general are solitary animals". In Greece, when we find one tortoise( T.h.) we always know there are at least one more close by. I see more and more keepers in Europe have groups of...
Hi! I just want to know what species you are referring to as "solitary species". I have kept Testudos together for years with no problem what so ever. They do everything together; eat, sunbathe and sleep tightly. The males might be an issue from time to time, but in general, they do fine too. I...
Is the heat rope still used for reptiles in general, and especially for tortoises? The only heat source any animal will ever encounter, is the sun. Most species bury themselves down to cool off. If it is hot in the substrate too, they have no were to go. Also the plastron(in some species) will...

Espen
My T.marginata couple seems to enjoy the enclosure, or the greenhouse at least! They came to me, after living together for 8-9 years without reproducing, from another keeper. Two days in the greenhouse, and at least HE is enjoying!
Hi! Yes, they do actually go inside in the evening, and outside (most of the time) when the sun is shining. The russian female likes to sleep outside, though ;)
With you leopard, it depends on how hot it gets. Mine do also seek shelter on really hot days. Too hot or too cold; they prefer a...
Hi guys, thanks for alle the great pics and useful information! As a "diet freak" I would really like to know what diet your torts are on-as a first time pardalis owner myself! I got two juveniles in march, but unfortunatly, one of them were sick when I got them, and he died not long ago. The...
