I can see here little air bubble. I do not think it is challking. Wait a few days more, if chalking will not appera in 10-14 days then I would say it is not fertile. My infertile eggs also had this kind of air bubble.
Hello,
I have Hovabator 1602N. I am thinkig of replacing included thermostate which I believe is not accurate at all. I woud like to use Microclimate B1 Dimming Thermostat https://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/microclimate-b1-dimmer-thermostat/.
Do you think it will work properly?
Hi!
I am wondering which of these factors are the key one to predict female readiness to lay eggs: age, weight, size. I've read some articles and opinions that plastron should be at least 15 cm long an weight >1000 g.
To be honest I can't relay on my experiences because my nesting females are...
I replace genty paper towels. One of torts is moving a little bit and I think it's yolk sack is a little bit smaller? The other one is still in egg. Both are alive.
I cracked egg little bit to give tortoise more oxygen/space.
Hi,
yes, babies are stil alive. I guess the one which is almost out of egg moved a little. They react pretty good hiding legs and head during control. I wonder if or how often should I change wet towels?
Hello everyone!
I have critical situation with my RT hatchlings. Eggs are from the same clutch, incubation time 92 days. I know - bit too long. Little tortoises broke eggs easily but it occured that both of them have enormously big yolk sacks with visible blood vessels. How can I help them to...
This egg was 100% fertile. First it was clear, then a little spot on top appeared and so on...I'm pretty sure I even saw embryo or it's shadow when candling.
Now it's hard to say what's going on.
Hi! It's me again.
I have question about egg development. I've seen a lot of eggs - fertile or not but recently I saw something strange. One of my russian eggs developed without any problems but since 3 days it looks strange. It looks like it's empty inside. When candling color changed. What's...
I live in Poland ;)
Thank you for answers. I read many bad opinions about Reptibator so that's why I'm thinking about Hovabator. Havabator is pretty big incubator. Is there any reason to buy it if I have around - 10-15 eggs/year?
Hello!
I am seriously thinking of buying a Hovabator for my russian tortoises. I know there are different models of the device and for reptile eggs there shouldn't be egg turner implemented.
So please help me - which model will be good? I'm going to buy it from USA (I live in Europe) so I...
I've got about 10 eggs a year but each year it's more and more. Last year I had 13 and there was a problem with not enough space. So I'd rather buy 1 incubator.
Hi,
I am russian tortosie breeder. I've always used my home made incubator but this year I would like to buy a new professional one. I am thinking about buying ZooMed's Reptibator, Lucky Reptile Herp Nursery II or
EXO TERRA REPTILE EGG INCUBATO.
Do you have any experience with commercial...
Hi,
I wonder if anyone of you has any experiences in succesful breeding russian tortoise in autumn? How do you prepeared tortoises for breeding, when they mated ad when eggs appeared?
I've got 4 RT females and 2 RT males. Durning spring females laid 13 eggs, had 7 little one's and there is...
Well in RT case when the egg is fertile there appears a typical white spot on the top of the egg when candling ;)
It looks like these:

Hi guys!
