Yeah, he/she would definitely be brought inside for the night or if we head into town or go out fishing. There are bears, coyotes, raccoons, etc. so I'd never leave it unsupervised. Maybe once it reaches full size I won't have to worry about spending seven hours mowing the lawn every trip up...

I'm no stranger to keeping a myriad of animals as pets, but I am completely new to tortoises. Currently my apartment is home to rabbits, cats, hamsters and fish. And two humans who are doting slaves to the above...

1. What do I look for when choosing a baby tortoise? I've never had anything but fish and mammals. It's easy to spot symptoms or behavior to avoid. But I've never had a tortoise or any reptile as a pet so I'm not sure...
