The fruit will be an once in a while treat, whenever strawberries are in season :)
Sadly I won't be able to find aquatic plants here in my country, so I'll have to stick to the lettuce and the trawberrie leaves for now...
About the lamp, I decided I'll place the fixture on top as it's the only...
I'll try to find some aquatic plants :) I bought one from IKEA once but they ate it up :p
For some reason I've always wanted to give them strawberries, I guess I'll try feeding them some along with their leaves!
Yes you are right, the lighting is very important, thus I did my research and the best long tube I found is this one... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=400421729722
It has three options for the watts, I was thinking of getting the 35w as the lamp is going to be at least...
I'll head to my local pet shop and look for vitamin D pellets today, their food is about to run out anyway :p
Thanks!
Oh, can you suggest any fruits or vegetables that water turtles can eat? I already know that lettuce is healthy...
Thank you :))
I know that it should be facing directly down at the basking spot but the reason i have the lamp that way is cause the "ceiling" on top of the tank is kind of low. From where I have the lamp right now to the basking spot it's 30cm. If i put it directly on top of it, it's less than...
Yes i have both a heater and a warm basking dock. Now about the lamp i use, it's an Osram Consentra and i don't really know if it provides uvb or uva... But, every weekend i get my turtles out in the sun as it is very sunny and warm where i live.
Here's a picture of their tank:
Hey everyone,
So I've just noticed that one of my two turtles got some black holes on its shell and I was wondering if this is normal or is it shell rot?
Ever since I got him, he had some white spots on his shell like his shell was shedding. I was worried but he is very healthy and happy. I had...
I really hope my turtle gets better soon! :)
Another thing i wanted to ask is if the water in the bowl I put them in to feed them needs to be warm as well?
Because I use water from the sink and it's abit cold.
Hey and thanks, as I said before the water temp is 27C and I do feed them separately. It will be a little hard finding worms :/ Will any type of worm do?
Here's a pictureof the tank and the turtle. Squirt, the non-eating turtle, is the one hiding behind that plant :) :
Hey everyone,
One of my two turtles hasn't been eating at all lately. It's actually been 5 days or more since she/he last ate.
My other turtle eats normally, and that's what confuses me even more. I feed them separately, out of their tank, in a bowl, as I don't want them to get stressed in their...
Thanks for the tip! I just fed them with your way, thank god they ate it fast :p
Although some powder sits on the bottom of the tank and on the filter, that's not going to do any harm right?
Oh, that's ok. I'm actually going to use it as a basking lamp.
I took your advice relaiting the vitamin D powder so I bought the Reptix Mineral from Hobby.
It includes "essential calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D3, water-soluble vitamins, and trace elements.".
But I have a problem on how to use...
So after doing some research on the bulbs I found this bulb in my house, my dad's an electrician so we have lots of stuff like that, and even though it does not mention anything about UVB, in some reptile forums I searched they said it's UVB
Here's the bulb
