From experience, I would get rid of any wood in his enclosure. My guy got sick because he was allergic to the wood enclosure. He got sick again when I placed a Petco half wood log in there for his hiding place.
Just speaking from my experience, ditch the nature stuff. Plastic and coco fiber all...

I guess I'll have to be the one to say it. :cool: Please don't get another pet unless you have adequate knowledge and funds ready for proper housing, equipment, and medicine. This setup is obviously a death trap for any turtle/tortoise.
My sister and I ordered our tortoises from the same place online. Found out hers has worms. So in order to eliminate any internal threats to my little guy, I am getting a fecal sample examined by the vet.
If results come back negative for worms, then I won't do anything.
If results come back...
Still waiting on the results...
Pumpkins... Never would have guessed.... I like the idea of an all natural solution.
If the worms and parasites are severe than I'll leave it to the vet since you guys mentioned that he's still so young.

I can't find enough information on how to deworm our tortoises at home. Is it even possible? Sorry if there was another thread about this already.
I'm getting a simple stool exam by the vet today and I want to know on whether I should let them take care of the worms or I should do it at home...
I use the Zoo Med Powersun bulb to provide both the UVB and heat. The lamp hangs from the ceiling to prevent the rays from aiming directly at his face. The basking temperature is set at exactly 95 degrees.
I hear all the time about owners feeding this to their tortoises. What's so great about it? Should I go out of my way to order and grow these for my little Hermann?
Isnt cactus fruits bad for tortoises?
