My girl has pinworms, got a question!

Good news. I contacted the pet store. They will take her and treat her with their vet, which happens to be my same vet, then I will get her back when she has a clean bill of health. I don't have to worry about a separate enclosure, and don't have to spend any more money at the vet. I was...

My girl has pinworms, got a question!

My vet just let me know that my Russian Tortoise has pinworms. I am picking up some medication from them tomorrow. My question is about her habitat. Obviously I should clean her home, but should I clean it right before I give her the medication or after a few days, so the medication goes into...

    substrates?

I use coco choir. The thing is that you want to use something that can be digested of your tort eats it by accident, which happens. I've always heard not to use wood chips. Most folks use coco choir mixed with organic top soil or a playground sand... or all three.

Decided to Purchase a Russian, Now it's time to build...

Welcome! Instead of planting directly in your substrate maybe get shallow planters that you can remove. Set them down in the substrate, this way you can have several planters growing elsewhere and you can quickly switch out when your tortoise eats through the plants in it's enclosure.

That's what I was thinking too but I keep seeing other folks saying that they feed every other day or a few days in a row and skip two days.

    Hello from Idaho!

I am new to the site and new to the tortoise world. I brought home my new beautiful Russian Tortoise a week ago and am looking forward to learn everything I can from you to help me give her the best life possible. I'm having issues getting a pic up but hopefully you'll see her soon.
