Hrrm... t_mclellan, in my last post I asked if I could be able to put them back together again after they grow up if I were to separate them, and I mentioned that I've been feeding them separately. I didn't ask if bullying was the problem. (btw meg, yes, once they grow up they'll definitively...
VERY nice! Seems like you had lots of fun! Coming from a very interested San Diegan, I also back up Stephanie in her question... backstage pass information PLEASE! :D
I honestly don't know what to say. If I separate the littlest one (which is one of the easter baby siblings) would I eventually be able to put them in the same enclosure once they grow up? And at what point would that be? Also, if I separated them... from what it seems since tortoises establish...
I think you already found somebody, but if you're interested, the author of "Redfoots & YellowFoots" also owns a rehab facility in Florida and is a redfoot tortoise breeder. =)

Welcome! And what a cute little tortoises!
From what I hear, even though aquariums aren't recommended as the best enclosures for tortoises, they're particularly good for redfoots because they do a great job at keeping the humidity up. Bark isn't a great substrate (I'm sure someone will chip in...
Thank you all :)
I'll put more attention and give smaller servings instead of a big salad dump, haha!
Meg, the little one has always been tiny since I got him... but I have noticed that the other two are very active and bigger, and the little one is shy and not growing quite as fast! I...
Photobucket works fine (no viruses), but the bad thing is if you don't log into your account for a while, your images get taken down. I've seen tons of sites with "PHOTOBUCKET: PHOTO EXPIRED" signs instead of a cute hamster. Tinypic is super easy, but images get resized if they're too big. I...
I used to work at Petco and even though a lot of stores carry redfoots, I wouldn't take their word for them being cherryheads. The seller who sales reptiles to the stores really don't have any way to verify each animal's strains, and not to mention employees get confused and mislabel animals...
RE: The NEW "What do you look like" thread!
Mugshot time! My name is Maria, I'm 21 and I live in San Diego, California. Here's my ugly face:
Don't have any pics on this computer so I used the webcam :p
I have looked at them, and honestly I haven't found any bullying against each other. They all sleep by the same spot, and when they eat they all go for their food but don't fight for it. They all get their fair share (imo) and when they're full they just walk away... plenty of food leftover by...
One of my redfoots always tries to taste everything, so naturally she tried to nip at my fingers to see if its food. It does hurt for such a little beak! She knows my fingers aren't edible now so she ignores them :>
Hello all! Here I come back again with a question, thanks to all of you for always being so helpful and understanding :D
I have 3 redfoot tortoises: two siblings born in easter 09, and one cherryhead mix born in april 15th 09. When I got them they were about the same size, but one of the...
Lol, sometimes it even takes a while for my hatchlings to realize there's food in the plate so I haven't experienced tortoises following me for luchtime yet. :) It does look like it's trying to bite the camera though, I thought maybe it was a territorial thing... guess not :D
It made me laugh at first but I wonder what got this guy so mad. I'm assuming the speed was just a video edit but I've never seen a tortoise freak out like this regardless... what species is it anyway? Super curious. O_o
