Okay, I will head to the store shortly. I'm still keeping an eye on her. I'm making sure she's staying in the warm zone but she keeps trying to move away from it- and it's frustrating. so I keep moving the bulb closer to her but not directly on her so she doesn't get too hot.
She has been out of...
Thank you! It would certainly not be cheap but it's worth it.
I'm still calling around right now- no one is able to see her today so far and I'm kind of in panic mode.
Oh dear.
I was thinking about someone who knew what they were doing- is it possible to ship her off to someone on here who could potentially help?
I'm around Louisville KY. I'm willing to drive up to 8 hours, potentially more depending on where it is. If anyone can recommend anything around me...
I'm extremely stressed out.
Pebbles is a young (around 4ish years?) Red Foot. I'm almost certain female.
I made the mistake from buying her from a pet store, and not a breeder. I honestly didn't want to have to sit on a wait list with someone, and I did a lot of research before hand and...
Thank you everyone for all of the advice. Pebbles is doing great! I do think it was the heat that got to her. She's been doing fine ever since I brought her inside and she cooled off. I've been keeping a very close eye on her. If any other trouble seems to pop up I'll update everyone.
I did think it was from the water, I included the overheating because I thought it should be noted in case it was that.
I will try to do this, my concern is that she'll get scared and she'll put her head in her shell. Is that going to be okay?
I was told she was 3 or 4 years old, but she's about 4 inches long... was I told wrong?
It's only been two-ish weeks that's she's been outside, and of course I checked on her all the time. Before that she was always inside.
Her outside "garden" will definitely be mostly covered so rain can't...
She's always been kept inside until recently, I figured the natural environment (like the sun) would be better, but she's definitely staying inside now.
I did want to make her a very, very big space in my backyard- fence it in, cover it up so nothing can get to her, and then in the winter/cooler...
Hello everyone,
I want to start by saying I am SO disappointed in myself for letting this happen.
So I've been keeping Pebble's enclosure outside. Yesterday, it stormed, and when I got home from work (which was early, thank God), there was so much flooding in her enclosure it was covering the...
Good evening everyone!
So I'm just wondering if there's anyone else in Kentucky that actively has any turtles or tortoises. I'm about 25-30 min outside of Louisville myself. I currently don't have anyone who could look after Pebbles if I were to take a long vacation, so it would be nice to get...
At night it's usually low 70s, when I originally got her I did read there should be a day temp and night temp but today reading about RF specifically needing the same consistent temperature I will change that immediately. I've got the UV bulb, I only keep that on during the day.
Day time temp is...
Sorry you guys, I am just full of questions today... I've been spending my entire day at work reading threads on here because I'm so bored, and want to increase my knowledge.
Anyways, I am wondering if my redfoot is going through some sort of "brumation," even though redfoots don't do this?? but...
wow... that's incredible. as for temps, I also read 90 can cause stress.... but I can aim towards high 80s or even above 90 if that would be beneficial for her. but again I don't know how accurate that is (that 90+ can cause stress). She is from tropical climates where temps go well above 100 in...
So I'm curious on a few things, I've been reading similar threads but haven't found the answers I'm looking for.
I did read somewhere tortoises can't digest food unless they're 80 degrees? Is this true? And how long does it take for them to digest food- an hour, five hours, etc.?
As a side...
