Thanks, that enclosure looks super cool! I've added in a kind of dirt hill today because she loves to climb, I will see how that goes down and have a look for some rocks ?
Hi, my 4 year old Hermann's tortoise has been getting restless lately and has been pacing her enclosure a lot. I've been doing some research and apparently try this means she is getting bored? She has a slate for basking, a water bowl, a food bowl, a log hide and a lightweight plastic ball in...
My 3-year-old Hermanns tortoise has never touched her calcium rocks. She has had one in her table for 3 months and we recently put more in hoping she would show some interest. Since then she has gone crazy over them and seems to be constantly eating them. Since she started eating them more she...
Awww so cute! My little Hermann’s won’t eat his cuttlebone but we are hoping he gets over that soon ? I really hope you and your tortoise make lots of happy memories
Hi,
I have a little 3 year old Hermann’s tort and we are unsure of what substrate we should be using. In the past we have used wood chips and have been told that it is a bad substrate because when wet it breeds bacteria by this website: http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/substrates.html...
We were recommended it, it is a mixture of soil and sand, we spray it with water every day and previously we have had wood chips which we were told to switch, is there something better to switch to to keep him safe?
Thanks for the warning
It’s A’Tuins treat day today and we are trying him with carrots as well as his favourite, cucumber! Here he is munching away and looking cute as anything ?
So my Hermann tortoise A’Tuin lives in a tortoise table in our house and is let out in our garden when it’s nice weather, but his table is quite boring, how do you keep them entertained and what should we add to keep him happy? Currently he has a water bowl, a food bowl, a slate to bask on, a...
Hi,
I’ve had my Hermann’s tortoise, A’Tuin, since December. This is him sleeping under his heat lamp since it is quite chilly! He is adorable and a special part of our family ?
I give my Hermanns a bath every few days and he tends to run through his water every so often. I think sometimes where the substrate can stick in places you don’t want it to it’s still a good idea to bathe him
Hi,
My tortoise’s top soil is clumping. I wasn’t sure if this is normal or if it is because of the water we are spraying? Do we need to declump it or is it ok?
