O gosh I know! He always hates me Changing the substrate because I get rid of his little holes he likes to create and sit in lol!
Does anyone have any links to better light bulbs too if possible? I'd hate to get the wrong ones and think I'm making improvements
I've changed the substrate to the one you suggested! He's not keen I'll be honest lol but tough! Sure he will get used to it and enjoy digging! Such a diva this tort!!

I've put a cuttlefish in there my word he is loving it!
Definitely over fed as I found the children have been giving him fruit a lot so that is now stopped! He is a right pig though he eats so much but I have reduced the portion size a bit though to the size of his shell...
I need to start researching them a bit more. My husband is good with identifying plants and weeds but even he won't commit!

Yes I agree they do come up a little small. I have a plan to get this table as a starter (it's the same floor space as he currently has in the Viv) and as he grows I'm planning on getting hubby to build an L shape one which will be very large. I'm hoping by doing these adjustments he...

He does get out into his outside enclosure...
Aw we have a harness for him too! He's out all the time with us ! We have recently bought a rabbit run for him to have the run of the garden but safe from wildlife and our cat!

Thank you so so much such valuable advice!. The vet was the one who suggested getting the timer as he said it could over heat? It comes back on when it dips in temp also.
I tried the bark style but he hated it he kept twisting his feet in it if that makes sense and falling slightly to the side...
I also forgot to mention the lights come on at 7am and go off at 9.30 via a timer and there is a sensor to the side of the basking area that switches it off when it gets to 32
