Yes she tried eating them was all. Doesn't seem affected. We get them just a few days after totally clearing out her terrain.

    Thousands of tiny bugs!

No wood. They are everywhere. I have a glass enclosure with the dirt they sell at the reptile store where we got her. They escape when we open the door and find them all over the house. They look very similar to fruit flies

Yikes..our bugs are small and black and eventually grow wings. Is that ok? Besides them getting all over. Annoying

    Cucumber safe

Hi all. My hermann tortoise doesn't like the dried flowers or real ones. No greens either but does like cucumber. Is it healthy? Any other suggestions? She's pretty much only on pellets.

    Do hermann's hibernate?

Thank you. Seems my 3 yr old has been sleeping more often. Wakes up, eats and goes back to sleep. Would that be a sign of hibernation?

    walking tortoise

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have posted this. We are in northcalifornia and our temperature is still full summer. She also knows the house since she's been walking around for 2 years. She has her specific "hiding" spots and we also set up climbing and sun bathing areas around the house.

    walking tortoise

She has been walking around both outside in our home freely for 2 years. I was just wondering how you can detect stress. She loves exploring and really seems happier when she is out of her enclosure though she does get her uv and heat in the morning and evening. We watch over her as we would a baby.

We are very careful. I doubt her walking is stressed but thank you for your feedback

Thank you. We have the house baby proofed. She has her enclosure but loves being free. She is a hermann tortoise. She sleeps in her enclosure and spends the winter in there but summers is her free to roam time.

Hi, My 2 yr old has been non stop walking around the house. I'm in north California and because of the air quality from the fires, don't think it's safe to take her outdoors. How can you tell the difference between distress walking and just regular nosy, exercise walking. Fyi..she sleeps...
