The 1st picture is when I 1st got Sheldon the 1st part of July. He had the start of pyramiding so I soak him almost every day. He has a closed chamber indoors and an outdoor above ground 4x6' wire covered turtle table. The 2nd picture is of him now.
I feed him a mixture of grass, weeds...
Would a 2 foot baseboard heater work inside an enclosure if placed high enough my sulcata couldn't get too close? I would plan on putting it on a thermostat to control temperature.
Here in Florida we have a lot of overgrown vacant properties near ours. Most are overgrown with wild grape vines. Is it safe to feed a Sulcata the leaves from these?
Some of you may have read how I lost my 1st Sulcata by running inside for less than 3 mi, and my dog killed him. Sully was only 1 month old and I only had him 3 weeks, It broke my heart and I still feel guilty.
My husband talked me into an other so I found one 6 months old and named him Sheldon...
I am new to tortoise keeping and have a 7 month old Sulcata for a little over 3 weeks now. I have been reading and using the search on this forum as much as possible but have not found at what age it is no longer necessary to soak him.
Ok...it took me a while to be a able to share this. On July 3 I had Sully a month old Sulcata in his kiddie pool filled with organic soil and little seedlings. I was watching him but realized I left my phone indoors. I wasn't gone 3 minutrs and came out and Sully was gone. I looked to the side...
I have a very large yard and it has a variety of weeds and grasses, most of which I have yet to identify. If I let my 7 month old sulcata graze supervised in the yard will he eat weeds or plants that are not good for him or toxic or do they have a built in instinct not to eat some plants?
Moss rose is a type of portulaca. I looked on this site
http://azeah.com/reptiles-amphibians-tortoises-turtles/edible-plants-and-weeds-tortoises-land-turtles
and it listed it as safe. I looked on this forums table and it was listed as toxic. I am panicing because I had some and planted it in...
I have a two week old Sulcata named Sully. I know it is early but I like to plan ahead. Eventually I plan on building an area in my yard for Sully. My question is that I live in Central Florida and have alot of very tall long needled pines in my yard. Will this environment be bad for him or...
My baby Sulcata is just shy of 2 weeks old. I take him outside in filtered sunlight for an hour most days. I had already ordered a 10 UVB bulb before I read to use tube lighting. Would glueing a scrren across the bottom of the dome protect his eyes yet give him enough UVB?:<3::tort:
Yesterday I got a new family member...Sully. As I am sure you know he is cute as a button. I also have 2 dogs and a 5 month old chameleon. I belong to chameleon Forum so of course the first thing I did was look for a Tortoise forum. I have already been reading up on the care to make sure I have...
