    Plastron fungus - advise needed!

Thank you for taking a look at the photo :-) Many of you are more experience than I am, I just need to make sure that Drew will be alright as he's very much my baby. And yes, apart from the dry spots I also think Drew is doing very well, he eats so much better than when I first got him, just...

    Plastron fungus - advise needed!

Humidity here is very high, mostly at 80%, so I'm not too worried about that.

    Plastron fungus - advise needed!

I did, I have searched all over, I probably have seen every single one. That was why I don't understand what to do after following the treatment instructions, the dry spots on the plastron looks like dry "skin", I also read that I can use a plastic card to scrape it off, but it didn't work...

    Plastron fungus - advise needed!

Hello everyone, Please have a look at the plastron of Drew and provide suggestions on how to best treat the dry white areas as shown on the photo. From reading and looking at all the other post, I understand that this is a fungus issue, please do correct me if I'm wrong. I have done what was...

    What's your Redfoots favorite food?

Drew would open his/her mouth wide open (and eats a lot faster) when it comes to shitake mushroom, papaya, pomelo, local fern, bell pepper, zucchini, earthworm, snail, poached chicken breast and gecko's tail (proteins are only given at about once a week almost like a treat). I did notice that...

    Another (but different) behavior question

Hi SteveW, I acquired my red foot from a local pet store (also a captive breeder of different tortoises) here in Philippines. My red foot, Drew, is very personable, he/she is around 6 months old, Drew readily took food from my hand within a week's time that I have him/her, that was when Drew...

Red foot in the tropics of Philippines

Never heard of that, papaya seeds are made into powder here for medicinal use actually. Here's a research article I found on line: http://www.phytojournal.com/archives/2017/vol6issue1/PartF/5-6-25-896.pdf Of course this research is done for human. But I do believe that we shouldn't feed...

Red foot in the tropics of Philippines

I know, most of the insects were killed by our cats and the other time I kill it with my slipper o_O (just killed one spider today for Drew) And yes, read most of the diet requirements. I do give about 30% fruit based on a more objective review of what they eat in nature.

Red foot in the tropics of Philippines

Hello everyone, it's been 3 months since I got my red foot (local captive bred), his/her name is Drew and is now about 6 months old weighing +/-90 grams. I've always wanted to have a tortoise, and have tried to care for one in the past but failed, now that we have moved back to the Philippines...
