It's very important that he stays with his mother and siblings until he's 8 weeks old. Not only is it illegal in most states to sell a dog under 8 weeks old, but these puppies have significant problems.

I'm really going to try and wait. Briar has been a very dedicated mother until lately. But now she's getting mean with the puppies when they eat food. She's guarding it for herself. They'll be 6 weeks Thursday. My brother is enjoying having them so he's not in a hurry. There'll be two other litter mates left so at least he'll get some of the benefits. Especially the bite inhibitions are going to be essential because he's going to be raised with a very opinionated rabbit.
What may look like meaniss to you may just be a learning lesson for her puppies.
Briar is actually hurting them if my brother doesn't make sure she's not around when they try to eat. Which he can so that's not going to influence my decision at all. I've tried to tell him some of what I've learned but you know how that can be. My question is if at 7 weeks and no other siblings would it be better to bring him home or wait the full 8 weeks anyway . Another thing is if I can't do it my brother will keep him for himself 😁 I do want the best outcome for him but I also have a rabbit that is going on 8 years and they have to live together. Another cool thing is the other boy is going to a family member that visits with me with his lab and I'll expect him to bring my pup's brother too. It's a family affair 😉
My next question is what people here like to feed their toy dogs as a puppy starter food. Any input is welcome. I know I want to use a soft food, a dry food, and a treat for training. I've always used free fed for even my rabbits but I'm not sure that would be a good idea for a puppy.
