Thanks! I will vary it each week, cut down on the carrots, and try to find some endive and escarole.
And, yes, separate enclosures. :)

I have a Russian and a CDT...new to me. I keep reading what to feed them, then I find conflicting lists. So confused!! Right now they both love spring mix , a little collards, some carrots...and the Russian loves petals. I wanted to add kale and dandelion, but read they shouldn't have much of...
What are you feeding them? I give mine spring mix, collard greens, shredded carrots, dandelion, rose petals...and he gobbles it all up and wants more. Now my CDT, he likes his food torn into small pieces for him...or he won't eat it. A little spoiled.

Thanks...I won't use the varnish. I made an enclosure for my juvie that I can move around, which is why it is wood.

I am building a simple outside enclosure for my tortoise. Is it okay to varnish the wood to protect the wood from moisture? Someone mentioned the tortoise might chew or whatever on the wood and it might not be safe? Can someone give me some advice? Thanks!
Thanks! I will try to go onto the forum with my computer the next time I have a question....because I did search, and nothing came up on my phone.

So, I am trying to build my Russian an 8 square foot box enclosure. How deep do I make the substrate? How often do I need to change the substrate? I had wanted to put the box on my deck for the most sun, but now I am thinking that would be hard when needing to change his soil. Advice?

Grandpa Turtle, thanks! I will go get him a piece of slate today. And I will give him a warm soak, as well. The CDT is hibernating right now, so he will have to wait on his soak.

Found the seed. Thanks! Now please be patient with my ignorance, but do I grow it in a little pot or such and then put it in his enclosure box? Or do I try to have it grow in his substrate? Totally new here, as you can tell.
