I am basically semi-retired (who can afford to fully retire). I work mostly as an educator online and also work part-time at Cracker Barrel. Over the years I have had many jobs that included writing articles (mostly about animals) and worked for a site against animal abuse and cruelty, had mu own Dog Grooming business, did some merchandising, and other online type jobs just to "get by".
I always had a passion for animals and my love for turtles dates back to my childhood. If I could, I would have a home full of animals and have had many types over the years. However, financially. space-wise and care responsibilities have restricted me from homing all the pets I would love to have. I now have two small dogs and my new little 3-striped mud turtle.
We had a 3-striped mud turtle who was going on six and we adored him!! He had such a personality. We took him with us on a vacation (not always easy to get a pet sitter) and on vacation after setting him up in his travel tank, we went to dinner. Somehow, the heater in his little tank malfunctioned and rose to an unbelievable high temp. We lost our little guy that day and needless to say, the vacation was over and we came home, devastated. I still cannot believe he is gone! He really touched our lives more than we could say!
We know a new little guy could NEVER take his place but I just feel such a void and have so much love to a give, to our pups and this new turtle. I am grateful to find this forum and hope I am successful in giving this guy a new and loving home.
