Tampa, Fl: Sulcata "Rodney", Looking for Forever Home

We have a 4 year old Sulcata who needs a much larger yard than what we have been able to provide. He is very loved by our family and he is extremely friendly. His favorite treat is hibiscus flowers, and will come up to anyone who has them. We would like to find someone who has experience with...

    Sulcata baby not eating.

I got him from TortoiseShack.com. :0( They didn't tell me what his diet consisted of, or his age. At night he sleeps in his humid hide which stays around between 78-82.

    Sulcata baby not eating.

We have only had Rodney for four days and he doesn't appear to be eating much. All of our temps and humidity, substrate, humid hide, etc. are all per Toms recommendations. We are feeding him hand picked fresh hibiscus leaves, dandelion leaves, grass, and occasional petal from a hibiscus flower...

    New Sulcata owner from Tampa

Nice to meet someone so close! I grew up in Clearwater and we go to Clearwater beach all the time. Hello to everyone else too. I love how friendly and knowledgeable everyone here is. You are all very helpful to the newbies.

    Enclosure idea

Great idea! We were just talking about how we need to pick up a small kiddie pool for Rodney, but I like this idea better. I'll run to Lowes tomorrow and see if they have one.

Rodney - Baby Sulcata w/ slight pyramiding

Thanks everyone for your quick responses! Thanks for the reassurance. Im hoping with the humidity in his home, the soaks, and misting his shell I can stop it. :0) I'll post more pics as he grows.

    New Sulcata owner from Tampa

That's good news. I was worried it would just continue to get worse, even with his improved arrangements. My son came up with the name Rodney before he/she even came in the mail. I don't know why he picked that name, we don't know anyone by that name. Just hope he is ok with the name if it...

Rodney - Baby Sulcata w/ slight pyramiding

Rodney just came in the mail today, shipped over night from a place here in Florida. I'm concerned that he is already showing signs of pyramiding at such a young age. If his habitat and diet are corrected now will this prohibit any new pyramiding from forming? Or is it once it starts it doesn't...
