After years of discussion, we've decided to add a tortoise to our family. Originally, we were sure we wanted a red foot, or similar species, but have since realized that a tort in less need of humidity would be simpler to keep. Also, we have long winters, so the length of time they would spend indoors would be unkind for a larger tortoise.
I think we have narrowed it down to the Mediterranean group. Hermann's stand out to us, because from what I hear, they tend to have some real personality.
I'd love some advice here. I'm not in a hurry. Once we make our decision, I will build a suitably sized table and start shopping.
