Hey there, Nicole here. I am a turtle / tortoise fanatic who owns two red footed tortoises at the moment. My first tortoise is named is Squirt. I look forward to calling her that when she is over 10". I also have a yellow colored red foot named Iggy. We at one point had a yellow foot companion with us but he passed away less than a year of having him.
I used to have three red earred sliders. Franklin, Donatello, and Mary Jane. I got all three of them over a five year period from three different past owners. Franklin was always a healthy awesome dude who was always excited to see me. Donatello, I acquired when she was a baby and ended up being bigger than the other two. Mary Jane had shell rot to the extreme when I first found her. Her past owners had her in a tank with neon blue water, tons of fake plants, and other fish. The last thing I saw was her, a 7" turtle. She was sitting in the bottom corner of the tank looking miserable. She didn't even have a place to get out of the water and bask. I asked what her name was and they said she didn't have one. I asked to take her home and after a year of care, her shell was beautiful and colorful rather than mush. Even after how long I had her, she still was the angriest turtle I've ever met. She hated all humans and I didn't blame her either. She now lives in a koy pond. I loved them dearly but after loosing strength in my arms I no longer could maintain the water tank by myself. So, I found all of them new homes and switched to tortoises!
