The only photos of Tank now are going to be of him as a hibiscus, his favorite flower. (Yellow was his favorite color)
Tank the hibiscus, who was buds yesterday and blooms today.
I actually have just a quick question. I was led to believe high humidity was a high factor in respiratory infections in tortoises. I admit, it's hard getting the same answer twice around here, but even my vet said the high humidity here is a huge factor. Have I been mislead?
Tank did not survive the night. We are picking him up from the vet soon and giving him a burial. I don't know if either of us will be able to stop crying.
Unfortunately, when we took him to the vet she said he was an unhealthy little guy when we got him. She said he was probably born with some nutritional deficiencies and he was probably one of those hatchlings that wasn't supposed to survive in the wild.
Aside from him being unhealthy to begin...
We have taken him to the vet. She thinks it's a respiratory infection, possibly pneumonia. He was so weak, she didn't want to do a float test because she was afraid he would inhale the water. He was having a lot of trouble breathing and didn't breathe very often. She started him on injections...
This is Tank, the Sulcata tortoise. He's still a little guy but we love him very much. Unfortunately he is also very sick right now. We're hoping he pulls through but it's looking bad.
