This morning when I went outside to feed my Russians, I saw this. I ran in to get my camera, couldn't believe they stayed like that and seemed to pose for my photos. So cute.....
Yes, they're all males. Maybe the relationship is formed by age?? We had one (Yuri) then several months later we got the other 2 (Nicki & Igor). Those 3 have always been together, never fought.
We bought Pasha 3 years after that, and he was much smaller in size than any of the others even...
Update on Pasha, our strong RT!
He might be strong but he is still being bullied by the others so we had to move him back into his own room. We put the bricks back too. I guess we'll see if he goes digging again.
I thought I'd share a crazy experience with all of you...
I have 4 Russians, they all live in a very large outdoor enclosure. However one of them (Pasha, the youngest) has his own room since when we got him last year the other 3 were biting him. The other 3 get along really well, no fighting...

Lynn, I don't know the temp in the garage but it stays cool. Our house is built behind a hill and the garage doesn't get any sunlight, it's the lower level... kind of built into the hillside. Even during the hot summer months it's much cooler in the back room. During winter months, maybe...
I say bigger is better... my torts love their enclosure, it's about 11' x 17'. They are definitely happier when they are outside vs being in a large bin.
I use the Big Rubbermaid bins with a mixture of dirt/forest cover and keep them in a back room of the garage. I do put the covers on the bins with lots of holes. I do not feed them for a week or two and soak them a few times to make sure they are 'empty' before putting them in for the winter...
We have Russians that love to climb. They have flipped over and have been able to flip themselves back over.
That being said, if I see it happen, I turn them, I don't wait for them to struggle to turn themselves.
