What are you guys using to connect the two rubbermaid containers? Does anyone have pics of the final project?

CONTEST: Outdoor Enclosure Photos & Captions! WIN an outdoor heating pad!

Hey there, Can you see me? I'm to the right of the log. I'm so tiny but thanks to the folks on this thread my mom built this huge enclosure just for me! I'd be able to stay outside more often if I had more heat. Right now I only have a basking light in one little corner.

New outdoor enclosure - lots of pics!

Thanks everyone! I don't think the mesh will be a problem either, its rather small and that area gets a lot of sunlight. The box does drain really well. We don't have actual drains, but we made sure that the sides aren't so fused together. We tested it out and the water flows very nicely out of...

New outdoor enclosure - lots of pics!

Finally finished building the new outside enclosure. This is for one tiny dalmatian hermann's tortoise. I'm still waiting on the seeds from tortoise supply so that I can start growing all of her greens. For now she will still live indoors but will get daily playtime in her outdoor enclosure as...

My Best Night Box Design Yet

I probably should've mentioned her size in the beginning. And thank you so much for the information. This has been so much easier from everything I have learned on just one forum.

My Best Night Box Design Yet

I understand what you mean. I'll see what we can do. She's only 5 months old so still tiny. She will also get time to roam free in the yard supervised.

My Best Night Box Design Yet

Haha! I hear ya! Unfortunately I've got golden retrievers that need the yard more than the tortoise.

Oh and originally that was supposed to say 4ft x 10 ft. Unsure if that's still too small

How big would you go for one Dalmatian hermann tortoise?

My Best Night Box Design Yet

I am planning on building a 4x8' outdoor enclosure for the one hermann I have. Would a mini night box be wise? Not sure how I would put a heater in it though. I live in Louisiana so while most of the year is nicely heated, theres about 2 months that we can dip into 30's at night.

    Building materials outside enclosure

Yes it does get pretty humid so I'm hoping that will be easier. I'll have to look into a cold box, perhaps adding that to the one end of the box. Do you think 4ftx 10ft is enough for own hermanns tortoise? Also, we were planning on building this off the ground, like on posts, so I do need to...

    Building materials outside enclosure

So I've upgraded my hermanns enclosure inside to a Rubbermaid container. This is to buy us some time to build outdoors. The enclosure is going to be 4ft by 10ft so I'm assuming that will be big enough for one tortoise! Anyway my questions are: I'm building this thing out of wood, does the inside...

    rain? and heat outdoor enclosures

Yea the torrential rain is definitely different than some states...I'm originally from Pennsylvania...that's why I was asking. I'd love to see your plans so I could get some ideas.

    rain? and heat outdoor enclosures

What do you do about rain in the outdoor enclosures? It rains heavy here in Louisiana and i'm not sure what i can plan to make for my baby hermann's. Also, do you put heating elements outside? What to do on cold nights?

    outdoor enclosure - hermann's

I have a baby tortoise that is currently in a 10 gallon tank and I really want to start building an outdoor enclosure. She will be the only tortoise so I was told about 10 inches is her max. I am located in Louisiana. The enclosure needs to be off the ground...due to constant flooding in my...
