Hi all...I got a new substrate today and it's a mix of sterilised too soil, sand and limestone. Tort seems very happy (although very dirty) but my vivarium has condensation on the glass. Is this ok? It seems to have much more moisture in the air which is what I needed.

No I have a normal heat light during the day and a red one for the evening which I was advised to get because the tank wasn't warm enough at night. I have just brought some dried dandelion leaves and clover grass for him to eat too so I was thinking for a few days I'm just going to give him a...

I have now changed it to a soil based substrate which he seems to be happy with.....he does eat it though so I hope he will be ok!!!! I have researched and this seems to be the best one people are advising me. I hope iv done the right thing!!! Lol

I have a 5 month old Leo Tort and the people I got him from kept him in a very dry enclosure (so I'm told, I am new at this) I am looking to change his substrate ASAP but wondered which is best recommended?? Also, I live in the UK so wondered if anybody knows which sites are best to order it...

Thank you....when I first got him they gave me a book but it's for Mediterranean tortoises so isn't accurate at all, although it has helped with some basics. I have now ordered a Leo tort book, joined this forum and I'm constantly online so HOPEFULLY everything goes ok!

I'm from the UK so unfortunately the sun shine isn't great! At the moment it's anything from 2-5 degrees so taking him outside isnt an option. I will start bathing him this morning. And will buy the substrate today....thank you :-) x

Ok thank you so much....I actually brought him from an aquarium and judging by everybody else's advice they're rubbish!!!! I am starting to bath him tomorrow morning as I was unaware they need this until this evening....I just wondered how warm the water should be?

Oh no!!!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that :-( I'm going to change it to soil mixed with sand I think as I have researched and this seems to be the favourite.....I'm worried something will happen to him that's all. I don't understand why the aquariums recommended it!
