    Tortoise eating Chicken

Right, we have this obsessed Tortoise who is insisting on sitting with us. Where ever we go he follows. Now, we put a plate of scrap chicken wings down after a Christmas munch, to find the Tortoise eating the chicken left overs. I thought they were veggies? You may remember we bought a...

    Hermann Food

I've been reading many conflicting advice on food for Hermanns. We feed ours a mix of T-Rex, Komodo, fresh Greens, Tomato now and again. But now my other half is saying not to give T-Rex or Komodo pellets. Can anyone shed any light on T-Rex and Kamodo are they bad for Hermann?

Preparing Shelby for his first Hibernation

I have to agree with Terry. I think I would be far too stressed about my babies not waking up. Our reptile specialist suggested the worse that could happen if you don't hibernate is it could possibly take a couple of years off their life, but seeing as they'll outlive me anyway, I would prefer...

    This is Archie............

One of Archies favourite foods is peas which I've been reading on here is not good. We feed him a mix of T-Rex and Mosodo aswell as greens. He's a healthy boy and very active, infact a bit too active as he lives mainly indoors. He gets the odd bit of fruit now and again. We are now...

    This is Archie............

Does Archie look as a normal Hermann should? Am a bit worried his shell is going a bit pointy. He's a 5 year old Male, just worried his shell is growing to fast?

    Power outage

I've been following this on UK news all day. It really does look like a nasty storm. I am sending my very best wishes and love to all of you who are affected. This may be a stupid suggestion, but if the house gets too cold, could you heat the car up and sit with them in the car for a while? I...

Moving Hermanns around? Can I take them to grans for a day? In car?

We take Archie away with us to the Caravan, he didn't used to like the car journey, but he seems to love the Caravan as he has his own end and loves walking around in the grass outside. He used to do a watery poo when in the car, but now he's ok with it.

    Without this site?

I think this site has so much valuable information from fellow members. I look through the posts each day and often learn something new. It is always nice to know that when things go a little wrong with our Torts there are many friendly people who will offer good advice, often far better than...

    Frustrated Tortoise?

Well, we've had Archie back for 6 days now and he's so much calmer. I think being with two much bigger Tortoises has put him in his place. He is much better toward Dolly, although does go for the occasional bite so we are still keeping them seperate unless we are watching closely. Seems Dolly...

Injecting Baytril in 2 torts, confused about vet diagnosis? ??

Give John Chitty a call tomorrow, he is an expert with Tortoises, he is based in Andover and will give advice over the phone if no-one else on here can help. http://antonvets.co.uk/ Good luck! My Archie had the occasional wheezing, we found out it was the air fresheners, so we no longer have...

    New Tortoise eating habits

We've had Dolly a week now and still no signs of eating. We allowed her 3 days to settle in without pestering her, now she is active and is happy to walk to us for a cuddle. She is kept in a viv, which we have used for our other Tortoise, but she is allowed out when she bangs on the glass for...

    Sedating a Tortoise

Thanks all! I was more worried as the owner treats her as her child as it's her late husbands Tortoise. Fingers crossed she'll have many years in her yet despite having only 3 feet due to frost bite many years ago. She is sure a fighter!
