Please pardon me if this is a stupid question, but I have a tortoise that I've suspected to be a female. She hasn't seemed as interested in eating lately, could she have eggs? or is that just a dumb question? If she's a she, she's about 7 inches long. I'm guessing that's too little, but...
I saw a few other posts with pictures and thought I'd add mine to the list. What do you guys think I have 2 boys, 2 girls, or one of each? They are about 7 inches long, so it may be too soon to tell. Thanks in advance...
This is Stella:
This is Ally:
Let me know what you think...
I'd love to add a waterfall/stream to my outdoor enclosure. With the sunken pump, are you able to keep the pond part shallow enough? I'm trying to wrap my head around it...Maybe when the kids are back in school...or I could let them "help" me. lol
I got them from Vicki Hale. They have different mothers so I guess that's different clutches. I hope to have some myself someday. With 4 redfoots now, it may happen eventually.
I recently had a tortoise go missing. He was found about a week and a half later. Do they do microchipping in the US too? I don't plan on my guys getting out ever again. Their habitat is now like Tortoise Alcatraz, or maybe Tortoise Disneyland, with an impenetrable fence around it.
Thanks everyone. They are so small compared to my 6" guys, Ally and Stella. I got them when they were 3-4 inches and these guys are only 4 and 5 months old. It's been a lot of fun so far. We're very proud.
I'm a pretty new tortoise owner too. It's hard not to go overboard trying to make sure everything is good for them. Hang in there. It gets easier. There does seem like there's so much to learn. Everyone here is great and can give you all the help you need. Jennifer
