Saw this photo on CL. Can't get in touch with people who have him, but what would cause this? It looks horrible?

Yeah, looks like some kind of burn survivor. Sad that it would happen in captivity, however I have seen photos of turtles surviving forest fires in the wild, too.

I know, I saw that. I tried to get in touch with the people who found it to make sure it was okay and had a place to go, but no reply...
