where to buy substrate

where can buy safe sphagnum moss for my red foot tortoise in large quantity's and i was wondering if i can start my hatchling tortoise in an adult size indoor enclosure Thanks all replies welcome

Home Depot and yes you can start them in a big enclosure . I wouldn' t put a baby in with adult reds .

thanks for the reply but dosent home depot products contain pine and other woods?

Nope you can get big bags of Cyprus mulch, hardwood mulch, and moss.

Don't panic. If you put a baby RF into an enclosure big enough for an adult, He'll go "MISSING". It will dig and hide in the moss and sleep all day and night long. For this reason I keep my babies in a baby sized enclosure. It's easier to make sure he eats and has access to water and I can see his general condition.....An enclosed terrarium makes an excellent place to start out a RF hatchling. It's super easy to keep up the humidity, too!
