I believe that Tech is from the Middle East, i read somewhere on here that Greeks sold from PetSmart and Petco around the time we got Tech were probably from a shipment from Jordan.

So my question is where to put the hide? ( along the temperature gradient...75, 80, 90 degrees F which area? Thanks

The best place to put your hide away is in the lowest temperature. If your tortoise really wants to chill off.

I would put a couple hides, one on the cool end and one on the warm end

0.3.0 sulcata tortoise
(Manavi, aspen, Bronx)
1.0.0 Russian tortoise
(Ivan)
1 Great Dane
(Koko)

Not the hottest, basking spot, but a warm end. Hot/warm and humid is good, cold and humid is not good. Warmth is needed to make it humid, otherwise it's just wet

you can buy what kind of looks like a thermometer but is actually a hydrometer, it measures the humidity in that area.
http://www.tortoisesupply.com/HeatControl this is a thermometer hydrometer combined and not at a bad price. most of your local and commercial pet stores carry it.

Thanks for your help everyone, I am going to leave the log hide on the cool end which he loves to climb (but never goes into)and put a plastic shoe box type in the midddle nearer to the heat, but not under it.
