Could he have eaten some indigestible grass stem or bit of thread of some kind ? This happened to Zola when he was little - it turned out to be a very long grass stem, which eventually all came out. I would try cutting off just the end of it so you can rinse it and check what it is.

Thank you Angie. What a relief. He only walks in the garden so it’s almost certainly long grass. The grass I grow in his weed bath is particularly long. I was so worried. I would suggest you don't try to pull it out - just cut some of what is showing, then do the same tomorrow, and so on until it all comes out Pulling it might hurt him.Thank you Angie. What a relief. When it happened to Zola, we panicked too - and we didn't have this forum to ask for help ! It did come out on its own the next day. AngieThanks. No I haven’t tried to pull it for that reason. I didn’t know what I was dealing with so I turned to the forum for advice.
My Hermann tortoise, Pebbles, who is 8 months old, left this stringy trail when I soaked him today. What is it? Please help.

Hello - I was wondering whether the stringy thing had totally come out yet - and how Pebbles is getting on.Please don't keep me in suspense !!I think there’s no harm in waiting for a day until she poops. She is pretty regular.
Thank you so much everyone who has replied to me.
Ha ha, thank you Angie for your interest. I left it to come out by itself, which it did the following day. It was a very long piece of grass 😂😂Hello - I was wondering whether the stringy thing had totally come out yet - and how Pebbles is getting on.Please don't keep me in suspense !!

Thanks Cathie, it turned out to be a very long piece of grass😂Hello and welcome I would first try and identify what the little dufess ate no matter what. Sapphire tried to eat a pretty piece of yarn once but I was watching. It didn't happen luckily. He's so picky I never in a million years thought he would but he did try.
