I am aware of the negative effects of coil UVB bulbs. I am wondering if REPTISUN bulbs have the same effects. Not strip lights but the ones that look like this:ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1403836673.113951.jpg

Thanks

Not for a tortoise. For a crested gecko. Simply want to provide a little uvb.

If you mount it horizontally it would be ok (like in an aquarium hood). The harmful rays are concentrated out the end of the bulb, but sideways disperses them so they're not harmful.

Great I was going to use a hood that mounts them horizontally anyway. Thanks!

Oh shoot. I just bought this and am using it in a dome light fixture. So this isn't safe for a Hermann Tortoise?

Technically, you are supposed to use them sideways.. I'd just go with a tube.
