undigested grass

my sulcata has been having undigested grass in his stool. his stools are firm and black,but sometimes i have to help get a longer piece of grass. is this normal?

Its normal and good to see the grass fibers when they are eating grass.

For small sulcatas I prefer to chop the grass into smaller pieces so I don't have those issues with them passing long fibers.

I don't like to pull out fibres, hair or undigested matter, I worry it might cause damage to the lining inside of the cloaca.
It will pass through naturally next time, so I just use nail scissors to trim the object to the level of the opening.
Or is that just me?

Ok, thanks! And I'm not really pulling it out. I'll take a paper towel and get hold of it and he'll move and it just falls out.
