Hello and good day to all. I noticed this morning what looks like cracks were the toe nail comes out. Is this normal? And am I going to have to trim his nails at some point? Thank you

I don't know if that is normal. As for cutting the nails, if you feed on a tile and have some flat rocks or tiles for him/her to walk on, you shouldn't have to cut them. @Yvonne G can tell you if the cracks are normal.
Once that tortoise gets back outside where he's walking on hard ground, the nails will wear down naturally. I don't know if that cracking is normal or not, as I've never given that close an inspection to my tortoises' nails/feet.
