Ticks

As I am planning my outdoor enclosures, I was thinking about the fact that we have ticks here in NJ. I hate the little blood suckers. Anyone ever have problems with them? I figured I could treat the area around the enclosures that way it would create a perimeter. What do you think?

I've never had a problem with ticks and the tortoises when they are outside Dee. Most of our ticks seem to be geared to mammals and not reptiles in the northeast.

I was wondering if they would go on them or not. It's bad enough that I had a dog that got lymes and my hubby has it also, but I didn't know how they would treat a tort.

I agree with Dan. Our ticks are geared to mammals. If you have the room , a great organic way to deal with ticks is guinea fowl. They consider them to be like M&Ms.

There are alot of guinea hens around but I personally don't have any. Maybe I should check into it!
