I have noticed my hatchlings really enjoy being in the sun for 30 minutes or so but it's been cool here. Tomorrow is suppose to be 60 which I know is below their temp threshold but if they are in a black drywall pan in direct sun for 30 minutes or so would it be ok? I feel like between the pan and their shells they would soak up enough heat to make up the 10 degree difference.

Just went out as it is about time to take the tortoises in. So I checked to give you an idea. It is 72f right now. But in their area when I shoot her shell with a temp gun I get 95f. The smaller female hiding more in the grass measures 85f. I think they would be too hot in a black tub!
