Is it in a proper wattage fixture? Is the fixture ceramic socket or plastic?
Did anything touch the ceramic bulb?

Not sure what that fixture is made from. But you need to get a ceramic fixture with a large metal dome.

And make sure you DON'T trust that clamp!
Use zip ties or something similar to make the clamps secure so that there is no way possible that the lamp can fall if the clamp fails.

First off. I hope you unplugged it.
Check the lamp to see if it has debris on it. Replace the lamp ballast itself and/or the ceramic emitter
There is no ballast on a CHE...
Wrong type of fixture. Lucky your house didn't burn down.
CHEs run hot. VERY hot. You need a ceramic based light fixture with an aluminum dome, like the one Wellington posted for you.
You also need a thermostat to run the CHE.
A che is just a ceramic heat bulb, no light, no ballast.
Is your enclosure enclosed or a tortoise table? As mentioned you need correct fitting for ceramic bulb and thermostat to manage the temp and a timer for on off times. Glad you were there how scary.
