Small indent on shell

I have a Russian tortoise named Orwell and today I took him to the vet. He hasn't eaten for 3 weeks and the vet found nothing of concern as far as health wise and has advised me try feeding him different foods. So we'll see how that goes. He told me to call back in a week or two if he doesn't eat and we'll figure it out, but he thinks Orwell just fell into hibernation mode so to speak.

Sorry, off topic...

As we were their I noticed one of the scutes near his tail has an indent and his...plastron? (The bottom shell that's closest to the ground) also has an indent. I pointed these out and the vet said not to worry too much just keep an eye on it.

So I came here worrying about it.

Is this something I can fix? Will his shell heal? And is this early symptoms of as bigger problem like shell rot? What should I do?

We'd need to see a pic to offer any help here.

Its not unusual for tortoises to have harmless dent and dings sometimes.
