I've had my tortoise since Christmas of 2013. I'm 15 and he was the perfect gift since that's all I wanted. I know the list of things he can eat but he seems to favor romaine lettuce the most which I hear they can't always have. Can he eat the dandelions in my backyard? I'm afraid of parasites and scary things I hear about if I also let him run around my yard? Anyhow this is Kurtis and the 2 story enclosure my mom built for him. He seems to like it better than the original aquarium setup.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum! Your mom did a great job on the habitat. I wouldn't even THINK of taking my Russian tortoise outside unless I had a safe and secure pen to put him into. You turn your head away for an instant, and he's gone. They are great at getting out of your sight in a hurry.

welcome from a fellow Oregonian and Yvonne is right i wouldn't take him outside without a outdoor enclosure they are just to sneaky as for eating out of the backyard as long as there is no pesticides or chemical i don't see the problem
