Ben, those stories make me sad... They make you want to get everything you can, since no one knows what will be available in a decade...

Agreed 100%. I remember buying panacakes during this time for 500 a piece and telling myself. "Plaunacauda are next". Then they vanished from the market. Will, again these are fantastic specimens.

Thank you very much !
I understand they dont need a very big enclosure ?
Do you breed them well ?
Do you see agressive behaviour between the two males ?

Great questions. The smaller enclosures are the best part about keeping Pyxis. That is one of the various reasons I love them so much. Kinda makes up for their only laying one egg at a time.

How often are the planicauda offered mushrooms Will?

The enclosure size reflects the amont of activity they enjoy - little.

I'm not sure what, "do you breed them well ?" means exactly. There have been some offspring loses, and some successes, so I guess that is well.

The group with three males, the males are not so interactive. The group with two males, much ritualized combat, but not what seems like real aggression.

Seasonally they are fed an abundance of mushrooms.

Can you tell how you incubate your planicauda eggs ?

Well, for not repeating what the recipe is, what has come from the Knoxville Zoo, short warm, long cool, longer warm- mid 80"s, low 70's, higher 80's. All the incubators fluctuate on a 24 hour cycle, my thought it is help them respire better.

The Knoxville Zoo in the US, might very well be the most successful place when all four Pyxis are considered, public or private, long term work. They seem to do a consistent good job of it.
