I keep reading posts about Hatchlings who's plastrons are "soft" and all the comments about how this is really bad and steps need to be taken to save their lives.

I'm so paranoid now that every time I pick up Petrie I check to see if he is soft. I just want to know what a normal plastron should be like. Petrie's has some give to it if you press in the middle kind of like pressing on plexiglass. It is firm but gives a little. I don't really know how else to explain it. Is this normal? Can anyone tell me what I need to look for?

Petrie has a MVB and heat emmiter, humidity at 80%, daily soaks and he is 6 months old. He has been eating and drinking and seems fine I just want to be sure all is well. I'm a worry wart ;)

Yep. Sounds normal to me too. Direct sunshine and a good diet will ensure that it continues to form as it should.
