Hello everyone, my name is Irina.
I am from Russia and I want to apologize in advance for my bad english.

Now I have 5 tortoises:

2 red-footed

2 leopard

and 1 red-footed or yellow-footed (I don't know)

I bought it as a red-footed, but I think it's yellow-footed.

Please help me with the definition of subspecies of this tortoise!

Yellow tortoise has a long and flat carapace.

Hi Irina, and welcome to the Forum!

I do believe you are our first Russian member. A milestone!!

Your yellowfoot tortoise is a redfoot. Do you see his nose, and where there is one circular yellow patch right above the nostrils? That's a redfoot trait. If he were a yellowfoot, the two vertical yellow scales above the nose would be right down there by the nostrils with no other spot between the nostrils and the two vertical patches.

He might possibly be a cross between the two, but he's not full blooded yellowfoot.

Thank you! This is a very useful link. Now everything is clear.
That is, my tortoise may be a hybrid between a red-footed and yellow-footed?

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Unfortunately, leopards died. Not only mine, but other people who bought the leopards with me. I immediately corrected the conditions of detention after reading the information on this forum. But it does not work, there were no symptoms, tortoises just died for all people around the same time.

I have repeatedly considered callas in the microscope, and did not see anything wrong there. May have been some kind of infection. There are no tortoise experts that could establish the diagnosis and cure it.

I'm so sorry (((

Sorry for your loss.
Sounds like they were already sick when you got them.
Sometimes it doesn't show for a long time.
Hope the others are doing fine.
Your English is fine, better than some native English speakers I have known.

How sad to lose your two beautiful leopards I am so sorry and hope it wasn't something the others could catch and become sick too. Wishing them good health.

Thanks for your support.

The rest of tortoises look great and good to eat.

You have a very warm and friendly forum. I like the atmosphere here and the availability of information.

I hope next year again to get leopards and grow them healthy and beautiful!:tort:

Most people around the world start hatchling leopard tortoise much too dry. Then, months later, they die of kidney failure due to the chronic dehydration they suffered as babies. Read this for more explanation:
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/hatchling-failure-syndrome.23493/

Do you know if these babies were started dry at the breeders place?
