working on new pen this weekend

Hi everyone so my first outside pen for my guys was nice but with my back issues getting worst lifting the top was some days unbearable and also I'm want to adopt a few more red foots so I want to give them more room.
Today my back feels okay and the sun is out so my hubby and I will be off to home depot to buy some more play sand and soil I'm thinking I need about 8 more bags of soil and 3 bags of sand to mix in. I want to get this done so I can start getting my seeds planted for the spring / summer right now I just have some bird seed growing so on nice days when they are out they have a little green to munch on and it's okay with me if they covered with new soil..
first I will post pic of their old pen then some of the new you'll see that the pond has been moved and yes the recuse RES I took in will be getting a bigger area with a fenced in yard for them to play in.
Let me know what you think oh on top of the brick we will be putting up a chain fence with a door that I can open rather then lift I'm still not sure but the top will most likely be chain fence as well. I don't want anything getting in.

It is looking good! I wonder if there is another way to secure the top, so that you are not lifting heavy wood.
I have an issue with my Hermanns pen and the top.
Your construction looks very solid!

Added more sand/soil mix bought a sprinkler set to a timer going to wait till we get the chain fence to put that in, and looking at digging a hole and putting in a very shallow pond area using the same kind of Internal Cascade filter I have in my inside turtle tank to keep the water fresh and moving so no mosquito larva will be living in it..
and ordered a lot of seeds from www.carolinapetsupply.com. waiting for some of their favorite plants to come into season..

The expensive part that I'm saving up for is the gate and chain fencing, but by next month we should be buying and putting it up.
I so can't wait..

That was the old set up that has been disassembled. my hubby thought about making a pulley system so I didn't have to lift it but with my back being so bad that would have been worse.
but this one will have a locked gated door for me to just walk in.

I so can't wait to have it ready for them...

so there is all kinds of weed seed growing that I ordered, my 2 kale plants have gone wild after the last rain. hibiscus, 2 grape plants,
I have not only a shelter box with heat lamp in case the night gets cool but also a nice cave that I made for them to go into and have a hill in the area I put 4 large river stone so they have to walk around them. there is a sprinkler system set up so all whole thing gets watered when I turn it on and can raise the humidity with it. there is 3 water dishes in side the largest I up a filter in to keep the water moving so mosquitoes will hopefully leave it alone. just want to plant a few more plants they like when they come in season.
