Keeping reptiles is so much fun but you know what isn't? Worrying that one day your heat lamp will fall or over heat and burn you'r whole house down along with your tortoise. It seriously worries me all the time...:(

If you mount it correctly, it can't fall over or be misplaced.

Also besides hanging them and not using the clamps, be sure you use the correct watt fixture and for anything with heat, MVB or che, make sure it's a ceramic or porclein socket.

I have moved away from any bulbs that generate heat by design. I feel the MVB bulbs do not last long enough for the cost factor. I have gone to T5.0 UVB bulbs and LED lamps for lighting, and separate radiant heat for the enclosure. No worrying since the bulbs do not get hot enough to cause a fire.
