mediterranean tortoise nails

How big is your tort? I use large toenail clippers or the kind you buy to trim dogs nails...You always just clip a small bit, there's a black line in the nail, that's blood, don't trim that. Most tortoises don't need a nail trim...are you sure your's does?

Post a pic of your tortoise, be sure the nails are in the pic. I agree with Maggie, most tortoise nails don't need trimming.

And my tortoise is this big
The nails are not really overgrown. The most you could take off of each nail without cutting into the quick and causing bleeding is about 1 mm. Do it very carefully with a fingernail clipper.

If you add low rocks and terracotta plant base for fresh food this helps the tortoise beak and claws.
