Hi all!
My male tortoise (really old), has swollen gland below the cheek for a month now.
I thought it would shrink eventually, but it never has. The problem is that I live in a small island and I have no access to a reptile vet. And based on my experience with other pets with the local vets, I wouldn't trust them with a tortoise.
Is there anything I can do until I find a way to get in touch with a specialist vet?
He is lives outside in the yard and he is generally active, eating, sleeping, drinking etc. No saliva from nose or mouth and the poop looks good/normal.

I have no experience with online vets and can't comment on their credibility, but this seems to be the most popular site for reptile expert vets: https://www.justanswer.com/pet-reptile/ Hopefully someone else can chime in with their expeiences!
I didn't find any concerning info about their vetenary experience, but found multiple bad reviews warning about hidden costs... (this article is one example https://clark.com/education/justanswer-review/ ) I don't know any other online vets that provide service outside the US. I hope you find a good vet. Keep us updated!

Thank you! I have also noticed that their pricing model is a bit odd. I will avoid them for now and keep looking for help. I will keep you updated.

Looks like it could be an abscess to me. You'll need a reptile vet to open it up and treat it.

There aren't any vet's listed in OP's area on this forum, are there any other forums to look for? OP doesn't seem to trust the vets in their are, what would you recommend in this situation

FInd a vet. Assess, improvise, overcome. Perhaps a local dog and cat vet can consult with a distant tortoise vet for any fine details. This is a purely medical procedure, and this is what vets are trained for. Vets don't understand the ins and outs of daily tortoise care, but they understand what to do with an abscess or other types of growths.
