long claws and beak

posting some pics as wanting some advice on turbos nails and beak as we think they are too long

Hi Laura:

It's a good idea to have a vet trim the beak and nails the first time you have it done, while you watch. Then, if they ever need it again, you can try it. The beak definitely needs a trim and the nails are a little long, but he can wear them down once you set the tortoise up in an outdoor pen (in the spring). A long beak inhibits the tortoise's ability to bite off pieces of food, so that really needs to be addressed as soon as you can afford a trip the the vet.

Ditto to what Yvonne said! And most vets I think would be willing to show you the proper way to trim a break at home when go you for a vet visit :)

we are going to take him to our local reptile shop there is a guy there who has 46 torts and is going to show us and a good chance to have an experienced pair of eyes check turbo out in person.
