I ahve the ability to move my CDT to my place i. running Springs calif. the altitude is 6'200 feet. She has been there without issue, in the summer.
If she was there, in the house, I could easily maintain her at 50 degrees.
I go there every weekend and would check her.

My biggest concern is her burning calories. She has not cme out of her house in days and the daytime temps are currently 90 wth a low of 60.
Although it will get cold, there are plenty of calorie burning days in Walnut.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I don't think you have to bring him to the mountains in order to achieve a tuck away for the winter season...now, if he has brumated before and is in his outdoor yard there in Walnut---I would just make sure his burrow is protected the best you can from flooding/water rushing in during a down pour...as he may have decided he is tired and went on in for the season....hard to say...

I have four male CDTs here...three of them are still out each day sunning themselves and then retreating to their hides each night...yet the fourth one seems to have hunkered down in his natural dug burrow....so, each tort certainly has their own behavior....

That sounds great to me.
I would much rather keep the tortoise at home.
Thanks!
