Just for during the cold days I have not been able to take Cookie (my sulcata) out as much as I'd like to because of the cold weather and my hours at work.

My Mom is really worried about Cookies enclosure catching on fire.

His enclosure is the biggest sized plastic bin I could get up my stairs.

May be a daft question but how do you manage to get the temps up to what he needs to function and for basking without heat?

What are you using now as a heat source?

If you are maintaining proper temps with a CHE I don't see why you couldn't use a fluorescent tube type bulb. I have heard good things about Arcadia.

I'm not sure what you are asking. There is no substitute for heat and UV. They need both.

I have heat and a light but I need a uvb light to use also I dont want it to give off heat so that it doesn't mess up the current temps.

Got it.

Get an Arcadia 12% HO bulb in a reflector hood. Run it on a timer for about 4-5 hours mid day. These make a lot of UV and you can mount them 18-24 inches away from the tortoise.
